Nutritional Health: Dr. Shaff will provide an in-depth look at the individual's nutritional intake.
Together Dr. Shaff and the patient will develop a plan to help the patient reach his/her personal health goals. In addition
to a general nutritional evaluation Dr. Shaff focuses on specific urological conditions that have a strong nutritional component
such as:
Intersitital Cystitis (Painful Bladder Syndrome, protatitis)
Kidney Stones
Urogenital Cancers (bladder,
prostate)
Incontinence
Recurrent UTIs
Medication-supplemental Evaluations:
All supplements are not created equal so it is very important to make sure that your supplements are not negatively interacting
with your allopathic medications. Dr. Shaff will review your allopathic and supplemental medications to ensure there
are no negative interactions. Additionally, many supplemental manufacturers use binding compounds that may be hard to digest
or may complicate a disease state. Dr. Shaff will work closely with your primary care physician.
Life Style Modification, Education and Support: Many urological conditions can be improved without
the use of medication or surgery if the patient embraces behavior modification techniques. Dr. Omole provides acupuncture
services for pain management, stress and anxiety. She also heads up our KICK START weight management program.
KICK START uses behavior modification, stress management and acupunture. A smoking cessation course is being developed in
conjunction with the urologists and Eve Khan, ARNP. Weight loss and smoking cessation benefits multiple urological conditions
such as; stress incontinence, bladder and prostate cancer.
Other conditions - Dr. Shaff
works extensively with patients who experience recurrent UTIs and who may want to eliminate their use of antibiotics.
Dr. Shaff and Eve Khan, ARNP head up our interstitial cystitis support group and also work with women who experience sexual
health issues.
